New Year’s Resolutions

Hello again, beautiful people. I hope you all had an amazing New Year’s Eve and got home safely. I hope you all had designated driver’s if you decided to drink, and that none of you drove home while intoxicated. It would be a shame if the world lost you or anyone else from a stupid lapse in judgment.
It’s officially 2018! And I am so hopeful and excited for the new year. January first marks the beginning of a clean slate for me, and I hope to leave all of my problems from 2017 behind me and continue to grow as a person.
Now, I don’t know about you, but I have a few resolutions. I, personally, don’t do resolutions in quite the same way as the rest of the universe. My attitude towards them is somewhat more… forgiving. When I set goals, I know that they are things that I’d like to achieve, but if I fail I don’t simply give up. Nor do I punish myself.
So here are some things that I’d like to achieve in the upcoming year!
Begin a Ketogenic diet
Most of you probably don’t know what a keto diet is, but to put it simply it is a low-carb diet. It can help with weight-loss (which, if we’re being honest, I’d like to lose some weight), it’s mostly gluten free so it can have intense health benefits, and it can help even out blood sugar (I have low blood sugar and it can make it where I don’t have as many drops). My only concern with this diet is that I’m going to have to cook… a lot. And I am REALLY bad at cooking. No lie, I exploded a Crock-Pot. So this should be interesting.
Drink more water
This is a non-negotiable goal for me. With my health concerns and all of the medicine that I take, I HAVE to keep hydrated. If I get dehydrated not only will my medicine stop working, but I will have many more side-effects, including issues with my kidneys. I haven’t been drinking enough water lately, but I really need to get into the habit.
Do a Bullet Journal
I really love the idea of doing a bullet journal. It’s just so aesthetically pleasing but it’s also a great way that I can keep track of my appointments, homework, and habits. I currently have no internet (rip me) because our modem has died, so I am solely using our very limited mobile data to publish this. But once we get our internet fixed, I will be ordering the journal that I found and starting it.
Start journaling
This sort of ties into Bullet Journaling. The notebook that I found has more than enough room for me to write on, and I think that writing down my thoughts may help me in the long run.
Post Twice a Week
Most likely Tuesday and Friday from here on out.
Write More
Journal, blog, write the plot for my, er, secret project. Any words that I can put into life are words that I want to write. That brings me to my next goal.
Do Camp NaNoWriMo in July
The July camp is the only camp for me that is when I’m not in school. And between trying to graduate and also starting college this year, I’m not going to have any time during the school year.
Read More Classics
I read mostly Young Adult/New Adult fiction. There is nothing wrong with that, of course, because I am in that age demographic. But I am wanting to major in English with a focus in Literature, so I would like to go ahead and read all that I can (fun fact! I’m currently already reading The Turn of The Screw by Henry James. It’s… strange so far) You can friend me on Goodreads to follow my progress if you want!
Treat myself better
This has been something that I’ve always struggled with. I feel the need to take care of everyone except myself, ultimately impacting myself in a negative way. I’m actually thinking about writing a post about that, but I’m still debating.

Of course, there are more things that I’d like to achieve in 2018, but these are some of my biggest resolutions. I can’t wait to see how this year goes! Hopefully, it will be an amazing year full of learning and change.

  1. I relate to not being good at cooking… But also one thing I’ve made habit of is keeping at least two water bottles by my bed, it kind of forces me to drink water. For some reason, I always get thirsty right before I sleep — after my teeth are brushed, and my body’s gone into sleep mode. So instead of going to the kitchen for something sugary, I have water right there. It’s been enforcing my hydration thus far.
